The Part-time Work Placement module requires students to work in partnership with host organisations in the private or public sectors with an interest in educating students for the demands of the complex world of work. Students undertake a skills audit before being accepted on to the scheme and will only be considered for this module if they have an attendance record in year two of at least 80%. The outcomes from this, and the availability of appropriate placement and academic supervisors, will determine whether students can proceed with this module. Students will be involved in the tracking of employability skills and in personal development planning.

If you are committed to breaking into the fashion industry, it will give you the best possible chance do so. Those with a non-fashion degree will find it difficult to compete with fashion graduates and will therefore need to study a postgraduate fashion degree. It is possible to get onto a fashion degree straight after studying A levels, Scottish Highers, a BTEC extended diploma or another suitable level three qualification. You will focus on the development of textiles for use in the fashion industry through print, knit, embroidery and embellishment and through the use of both traditional craft techniques and contemporary digital processes. You will develop your knowledge of fabrics, colour and silhouette, engage in textile sampling and prototype testing in 2D and 3D and explore areas such as fashion awareness, trend forecasting, illustration, pattern cutting and garment construction.

This units looks at the history of the digital landscape in relation to the data analytics, market segmentation, customer behaviour, campaigns, media influences, and ethics of digital media. Students can study the BSc Fashion Marketing course on a 3 years full-time basis or with an optional placement year between the second and third year which extends the duration to 4 years. Around 40-50% of our student cohort take part in a one-year full-time industry placement/study abroad with placement annually. As a preferred choice for 12,500 students, including young people, adults and employers, we offer 4000+ courses in a wide range of vocational and academic programmes. These courses range from entry level to degree level and provide learners with the skills that employers are looking for. The nature of business activities can be understood in terms of operations management and this module aims to explore the role and purpose of operations management within an organisation. Students will explore the major principles of operations management and analyse how these principles are applied in different organisations.

Students will master traditional and emerging technologies to extend and develop conceptual fashion products and/or ranges that challenge convention and advance fashion practice within the diverse Fashion landscape. The focus is on active and participative learning as the students develop a business proposal with support from academic mentors. Students adopt the role of company directors with specific remits within the group and work together towards the development of an appropriate Business Model, which informs the production and presentation of a cohesive Business Plan. As the team develop the business model, students have opportunity to put theory into practice and to utilise and reflect upon industry practices and the development of their professional skills in preparation for employment. This unit enables students to develop their working practices and professional processes applicable to the research, design, development and manufacture of fashion/sportswear garments using industry appropriate technologies. Students will extend their newly acquired expertise to develop fashion research into fashion/sportswear garments.

This unit introduces students to the fundamental principles and techniques required for the creative exploration of fashion / sportswear design and the associated material and manufacturing technologies.

Our aim is to shape 'confident learners' by enabling you to develop the skills needed to excel in your studies here and as well as onto further studies or the employment market. Applicants should have an interest in the fashion industry and at least one Higher at Grade C or above or a relevant NQ/NC Award with at least 12 units. Applicants will attend an interview and undertake a written exercise to determine their suitability for the course. Relevant industry/life experience or other qualifications will also be considered.
